No Woman No Cry – My life with Bob Marley

No Woman No Cry Bob Marley Rita

“No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley” is the autobiography of Rita Marley. But, this is so much more than just a life story; it’s a love story, a story of unconditional love. It all started in Jamaica when Rita Anderson met Robbie Marley and fell in love. From that point on, that little island, reggae music, and the world would never be the same.

Behind every great man…

I’m a longtime fan of Bob, and I’ve watched documentaries, read books, and listened to interviews. In doing I learned about his marriage to Rita (which he denied publicly), and I also learn about all of the other women and the children. So, I wondered about Rita… about how she felt about the other women and children. She even helped raise the other children. I wondered how she could do that. What type of strength and love did she possess to perform such a selfless act?

Two sides to the story

So when “No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley” was released, I bought it immediately. I needed answers to my questions. I knew Bob Marley, reggae icon. But how much did we know about Rita? There are two sides to every story, and I was eager to read her side.

Is This Love?

What did I learn? Of course, she was a woman with feelings, emotions. She dealt with all of that as you would expect. But, ever since they met – she felt a deep need to take care of and protect Bob. From the beginning, she supported his musical dreams and she did everything in her power to make sure they came true. She truly loved him, and despite his obvious womanizing he loved her, too. It was her love for him that allowed her to get through it all.

Bob’s Legacy

When Bob died in 1981, at the age of 36, there were no other women around – just Rita. And, after he died it was Rita that made sure that his legacy lived on, as she still does to this day. Bob was famous, but Rita’s love for him made him immortal. If you are a fan of Bob – I highly recommend you read this book.
